Fantasy sports life crazy love

For me to post a random blog about fanaticism and fantasy life in the spring time is almost like the pot calling the kettle black.  The Stanley Cup playoffs are well underway and I am a rabid fan of several sports’ teams including the Vancouver Canucks, and have often been overheard shouting directions at referees through the TV screen.  Funny thing is, they never seem to hear me.  Go figure.  But it doesn’t seem to stop me from shouting.

After all, I am a very competitive person.  All you have to do is play a game with me – any game – and you will soon find out how competitive I can be.  It’s in my blood.  It’s part of my DNA.  My genetic makeup tends toward the excess in terms of being a sports fan.

While there are other sports I may watch, they are in no way viewed with the same tenacity and eccentricities as I view hockey and soccer.  As a result, I often play free, online sports pools that have no other merit except bragging rites, and even then they are usually to unknown persons in various parts of the world that happen to be playing the same game as I am.  It’s kind of fun to vicariously live through the wonder of sport and fantasy online sports.  But it can DEFINITELY go too far.

Who am I?

Thanks to my job as a reporter covering the Kansas City Royals for their flagship radio station, I’ve developed quite a following on Twitter. Recently, one of my followers asked me if I was a fan of the Royals. I replied that, while I like to see the Royals succeed, I don’t consider myself a fan. cheap jerseys free shipping My response led to a lengthy Twitter discussion about why I’m not a fan of the Royals; some suggested I was a traitor for not unabashedly rooting for the Royals and others assumed I don’t care about the Royals if I’m not a fan of the team.

I can’t help that I grew up in New York City rooting for the New York Mets, rather than in Kansas City rooting for the Royals. I suppose I could toss my past aside and pretend the Royals are the only team I’ve ever cared about, but that would be disingenuous.Cheap Carolina Panthers jersey Even though I do a Royals post-game show and have many people who follow me on Twitter because I cover the Royals, I don’t hide my past or present allegiances. I learned about and fell in love with baseball thanks to the Mets and pretending otherwise would be ignoring a key part of what’s made me who I am.
